Why We Ride

A final note on mission, purpose, and impact brings us home

20 years of Ride for the Feast has seen teams, friendships, and connection to our mission grow stronger through many miles, sweat and smiles. When RFTF rider, Cara, came in for a volunteer shift in our kitchen last week, she reminded us of why she's been cycling in this event for 12 years. "Illness isn't going anywhere," Cara said simply, "And, accessing healthy food shouldn't be a concern for those living with serious illness."

Anyone who has participated in Ride for the Feast will tell you how extraordinary the experience is. For many years, riders would travel from the Eastern Shore to Baltimore City over two days. Last year was the first year riders remained on the Eastern Shore for a one-day event, but the impact and connection between the two regions hasn't been lost.

"I love that Baltimore and the greater metro area PLUS the Eastern Shore can unite people together to do kind things for their neighbors," Cara explained, "I'm proud to participate and show my kids that giving back matters!"

Ride for the Feast is such a special event because it represents the love one neighbor can have for another. This Saturday, we will come together; we will ride with each other; we will ride in support of our neighbors; we will ride for The Feast.

The Fun(draising) Continues!

We're only a couple days out from ride day, adrenaline is kicking in, and we're HALFWAY to our goal! We need your help to keep the fundraising momentum up through the event.

Some ideas to inspire your efforts:

  • Write a compelling message to your community about what you're doing this weekend and WHY you're doing it
  • Host a gag-raffle Ex. A donation of $5 enters your friends into a raffle to win your padded bike shorts :)
  • Make a silly pledge Ex. Pledge to post a video of yourself dancing at each pit stop if you hit your fundraising goal

Have fun with it and remember your "why".

Let's work together to feed people, fight disease, and foster hope.
