I never believed I could do a 100-mile bike ride – but I had long dreamed of trying. When I first moved to Baltimore, I joined the New Wave Singers, who happened to be avid supporters of Moveable Feast. Much to my disappointment, I had just missed that year's Ride, and I promised myself I would do it the following year. My first training ride was on an old and heavy bike. It had been years since I had ridden, but I was determined. Afterward, in between gasps for breath, I asked my partner how far we had gone. He dryly, in both tone of voice and lack of sweat, said, "5 miles." I almost cried! How was I going to ride 140 miles in two months?! But twenty years later, here I am. Still looking forward to launch day on December 1st. I am truly humbled to have been able to help Moveable Feast for all this time. Ride for the Feast is almost a reflex at this point! I believe the quality of an organization's work is directly reflected in the people it attracts. I have met some of the best people in Baltimore through this Ride. I've become lifelong friends with many riders and volunteers, and I would not have met them were it not for Moveable Feast. I'm a better person because of my Moveable Feast community; ultimately, it's why I keep coming back. For the new riders, YOU CAN DO THIS! It's a super-supported event, which takes a lot of the stress from doing the Ride itself. Once you get the fundraising done, the Ride is your celebration. Enjoy it! It continues to be one of my life's most rewarding events, and I hope it can be the same for you! Please introduce yourselves to me!
