Mission Moment to Remember Last Friday was World AIDS Day, an annual event that serves as a reminder of the global struggle to end HIV-related stigma, an opportunity to honor those we have lost, and a rallying cry to commit to working toward a day when HIV is no longer a public health threat. A Moveable Feast client and AIDS survivor shares why access to healthy, nutritious food was so critical when facing her most challenging days: "I was diagnosed with AIDS in 1981, and I got involved with Moveable Feast as a driver who did the deliveries for people who were very ill. Then, I got extremely sick. Eventually, I could not even stand up to cook my own food at the stove. At that point my case manager contacted Moveable Feast so that I would have nutritious fresh meals on a weekly basis. So I can speak from experience as a former volunteer and now as a client how important this service is to people who are living with HIV/AIDS, Cancer and other life-threatening life-changing illnesses. I encourage everyone to support this life-saving program.
